After the German car maker has launched the X5 model, now is the time for its sibling X6. So, we will soon see the brand new 2018 BMW X6. Although it is not so much family-oriented SUV or a either a big hauler because of the tight cargo space, the BMW X6 is still fun to drive, and a nice choice for every day ride.
The BMW X6 has gotten several more advanced features last year, and completely redesigned in 2015 as the next generation model, we believe that the 2018 model won`t be much different this time. The new X6 will appear with very attractive exterior design and upgraded interior. As well, it will offer several powerful engines to choose from. However, a bit crowded rear seat space and poor cargo area might turn away many costumers, especially families with more members. As well, its high price could also be its big flaw; but still we assume that despite all of its disadvantages, new BMW should attract many potential buyers. It will be available in base, Premium, M Sport and Executive trim levels.
2018 BMW X6 types of engines and performances
Under the hood of 2018 BMW X6 will be placed several types of engines. The base model will come with sDrive35i (RWD) and xDrive35i (AWD) versions. The base engine will be a 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbo which will have the output of 300 horses.
The next option is going to be a 4.4-liter V-8 twin turbo. This engine will be able to develop 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. This unit will hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
The last one will be the strongest unit in the lineup. It will be the same 4.4-liter V-8 which will power the M Sport model. So, it will be capable of producing amazing 567 horses and 553 pound-feet of torque. All the engines will be mated to an eight-speed Steptronic sport automatic gearbox.
As for the fuel economy, the base engine with AWD is rated at 18/24/20 mpg in the city/highway/combined. The second unit with 445 horses shows 15/21/17 mpg. And the last one used in M Sport version is estimated at 14 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg combined.
Exterior and interior design
The new 2018 BMW X6 will have very handsome and classy design. It features long hood, long wheelbase and attractive body lines. On the front fascia, we will notice well-known chrome kidney grille and a pair of nicely styled headlamps. Moreover, it will receive slightly larger sporty front bumper. The new BMW will ride on standard 19-inch alloy wheels.
Speaking of the interior, the 2018 BMW X6 will get comfortable and nicely equipped cabin. It is able to accommodate four passengers comfortably. However, the problem could be the lack of headroom for the back seat passengers. The X6 will offer plenty of interesting interior trims such as wood, leather or aluminum details. The base model will get leather upholstery. Besides that, it will come standard with heated front seats, large infotainment touchscreen, navigation, a rearview camera, stability and traction control and so on. However, depending on a trim level, it will also offer Harman/Kardon audio, air conditioned seats, satellite radio etc.
Release date and price of 2018 BMW X6
The 2018 BMW X6 should go on sale in early 2018. As for the price, we assume that it will start at roughly $72,000 and will go up to $100,000.
