2018 Ford Flex: Price, Colors, Limited

The new full size crossover SUV, ideal for families and long trips is on its way. We are talking about the 2018 Ford Flex. This model firstly debuted in 2009, with unique styling, very roomy cabin and an excellent cargo space. It hasn’t been completely redesigned since then, so for the 2018 model year, we are about to see some small but interesting upgrades. However, generally the new Flex should remain the same as the current model.

The new Ford will be very versatile as always; it is able to welcome up to seven passengers and plenty of stuff. It is powered with two engines under its hood which will be very powerful. The cabin will be offered in two attractive trims and will be equipped with plenty of latest features. The upcoming Ford will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations and three trim levels. Those are the base SE, SEL and Limited.

Under the hood of the 2018 Ford Flex will be placed two types of engines. The base will be a 3.5-liter V-6 unit which will be able to develop 287 horses and 254 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It will be available with either front- or all-wheel drive configurations.

The second option will be the same engine only more powerful. It is a 3.5-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine. This one will be able to produce 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This engine also uses the same 6-speed gearbox. It will be able to hit 60 mph in 6.2 seconds making it one of the quickest crossovers and wagons on the market. This engine will appear with all-wheel drive system only.

As for the fuel economy, the base engine with FWD is rated at 16/23/19 mpg. With AWD it shows 16/22/18 mpg. The second engine is estimated to be 15 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg combined.

Design of exterior and interior

The 2018 Ford Flex features boxy, clean and handsome appearance. The front end is dominated by a distinctive chrome grille which integrates with headlights. The Limited trim comes standard with a satin-aluminum finish grille. Furthermore, the SEL and Limited models will offer chrome doors handles and the optional appearance package which will add black exterior details such as mirror caps, grille etc. The base model will ride on 17-inch wheel; the SEL will add larger 18-inch ones and the top Limited will be available with 20-inch glossy black-pained wheels.

Inside, the 2018 Ford Flex will be very spacious, comfortable and nicely equipped. It has three rows of seats and it is able to accommodate seven passengers. The second and the third row can fold flat so you get more cargo space which is generally ample. The dashboard features standard 4.2-inch screen with infotainment system while the higher trims get an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As for the equipment, the base model comes standard with USB, CD player, a six-way power driver seat, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, audio with six speakers etc.

Moving to the SEL trim, it offers dual-zone automatic climate control, wood trim, heated front seats, satellite radio, keyless entry and ignition and so on.

The Limited trim adds LED lights, adaptive cruise control, ambient interior lighting, forward collision warning, premium audio system with HD radio etc.

The new Ford will be also available with leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, roof rails, black interior and exterior trim and many other more.

Release date and price of the 2018 Ford Flex

The new 2018 Ford Flex should arrive later this year. When it comes to the price, the SE base model should start at $30,300. The price of the SEL will be around $33,000 while the Limited is expected to be $38,500.
