2018 Infiniti QX50: Release Date, Review, Specs

At the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Nissan has presented the QX50 concept. As well, the company has confirmed that the new 2018 Infiniti QX50 will borrow the same design and styling of the QX50 concept. So this time, the 2018 Infiniti QX will receive sportier and sleek design. The redesigned exterior will result in more spacious cabin too. We can expect new materials inside the cabin and perhaps more tech features.

Furthermore, under the hood, there will be the all new VC-Turbo engine. With all these significant improvements and changes, this luxury SUV will surely attract customers worldwide. Its key competitors will be: Audi Q5, BMW X3, Cadillac XT5, Jaguar F-Pace, Lexus RX and Porsche Macan.

Powertrain and performance

As for the powertrain, the new 2018 Infiniti QX50 will show some novelties. Like it was firstly announced in the QX50 concept, this new sport utility vehicle will get the new VC-Turbo variable compression engine. This unit will be able to make around 268 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque.

With this powertain, it should show better fuel efficiency for around 27 percent. So, it should be 21 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway and around 24 mpg combined. The engine will most likely be paired with a continuously variable transmission. However, some sources say that it might receive an eight-speed automatic gearbox too.

Speaking of the exterior, 2018 Infiniti QX50 will share similar design as the QX50 Concept. It will appear more elegant but in the same time sporty. This new model will look significantly better than its forerunner. Both fascias will get many changes. The front end will feature slightly smaller black mesh grille, new bumper and revised headlamps. However, they won`t look narrow as on the concept. The LED strip will be placed above them. On the rear end, we will notice narrow and long taillights equipped with LED lighting.

Speaking of the interior of 2018 Infiniti QX50, sadly there are still no official news and information. However, judging by the interior of the concept model, we can conclude that it will be surely revised and upgraded. We will notice more quality soft-touch materials and surfaces in its design. All the seats will be comfortable even in long drives. Moreover, the rear can be folded down to provide more cargo room. The dashboard will feature the new dual infotainment display. The base model should get a semi-digital instrument cluster while the higher trim levels are expected to receive the all-digital instrument.

When it comes to technology, the brand new Infiniti should get many features. Some of them will be: dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, the new sound system and so on. Furthermore, the infotainment system for the rear seat passengers could be an option too.

2018 Infiniti QX50 should be presented worldwide in late 2017 or in early 2018. When it comes to the price, we can expect a small increase in comparison to the current model. So, the starting price of this SUV should be around $37,000.
