With innovative styling, well-organized interior and excellent capability, the all new 2018 Jeep Cherokee is soon to be launched on the market. This great off-roader has been fully redesigned back in 2014 when it has gotten a completely new look. Now, it will continue with the similar design as the current model and the only novelty we will see this time is a rearview camera which will be standard for all trims.
The upcoming Jeep will offer good-looking and very well-equipped cabin, lots of safety features and excellent towing capacities so as off-road ability. It will be available in several trim levels. Those will be Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Overland and Trailhawk which will be the most capable of all. Its main rivals will be Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.
2018 Jeep Cherokee engine, performance and fuel economy
The 2018 Jeep Cherokee will get two types of engines under the hood. The base engine will be a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with the output of 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. The optional unit will be more powerful and it is a 3.2-liter V-6. This powertrain will be able to generate 271 horsepower and the torque of 239 pound-feet. Both engines will pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, it will be available with front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the fuel efficiency, the base engine gets 21/30/25 mpg with front-wheel drive. With AWD, it is rated at 21 mpg in the city, 28 on the highway and 23 combined. The V-6 engine gets 21/29/24 mpg with FEWD while with ADW gets 20 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg combined.
Design of exterior and interior
The external appearance of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee won’t differ much from the outgoing model. The front end still features familiar seven-slot grille with chrome accents and slim HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Moving to the side, we will notice roof rails and nicely designed 17-inch wheels with trapezoidal wheel arches and all-season tires. On the rear, there will be horizontal taillights and dual chrome exhaust pipes. The higher trims will ride on larger 18-inch aluminum wheels.
The interior of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee will be very functional, sufficiently spacious and well-equipped. It is able to accommodate up to five passengers in two-row configuration. The seats are upholstered in cloth while the higher trims will have leather upholstery. The second row can split and fold in needed for more cargo space. The dashboard will feature a standard 5.0-inch touchscreen while the larger 8.4-inch display will be available in top trims.
As for the equipment, the standard features include a rearview camera, USB, Bluetooth, air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry etc. However, the CD player, satellite radio, heated steering wheel and seats will be optional. The higher trims will add blind spot monitors, dual-zone climate control, remote start, parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof and many others.
