2018 Jeep Patriot: Price, Replacement, Review

It seems that the rumors finally became true. The Jeep Company’ decision the replace their two very similar compact crossover SUVs is finally confirmed. The car maker has decided to replace the 2018 Jeep Patriot with the new 2018 Jeep Compass.  To resume, the new Compass will represent the replacement for both current Patriot and Compass models.

The Company is testing its brand new crossover SUV on the roads which will stand between the larger Renegade and smaller Cherokee. Its official name is not yet officially confirmed. So, it could be either Patriot or Compass, but believe that it will probably be the last one since it is more familiar worldwide. These two models share the same engine under the hood, same platform and similar boxy styling. So for all their fans, the upcoming model will be the much better and improved version of these two. They can expect more modern vehicle with latest features and excellent off-road capability.  Of course, its boxy styling will only be slightly revised so it keeps its recognizable appearance. The new SUV is expected to appear in four different trims. Those will be Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk.

It is still not known for sure what engine will power the new 2018 Jeep Patriot or to say the future Compass model. However, latest news claims that there will be two types of engines to choose from. So, the first one could be a 2.4-liter Tigershark MiltiAir 2 powertrain. This one will be able to develop 180 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque.

The next one will most likely be a 2.0-liter turbocharged which will be able to make around 158 horses. As for the transmission, there will be a choice between a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. However, we should also see a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel drive system will remain standard while the all-wheel drive configuration will be available too.

Design of exterior and interior

First of all, the new 2018 Jeep Patriot-Compass will ride on an extended version of the platform which also underpins the Renegade model.

When it comes to exterior design, the upcoming compact SUV will feature familiar boxy look. But it get more modern lines and softer touches. Its look will be very similar to the Grand Cherokee model. The front fascia will receive a seven-slot grille and a pair of nicely designed headlamps. On the rear end we will notice new taillights.

Inside, the 2018 Jeep Patriot-future Compass will get more quality, more modern and very well equipped cabin. The materials used in its design are softer and more quality too. As for the technology, it will offer more standard and optional features as well. The dashboard will feature a 5-inch touchscreen with infotainment system. However, depending on a trim level, it will also offer the larger 7-inch and 8.4-inch displays.

Release date and price

The 2018 Jeep Patriot should arrive later this year. As for the pricing, it will most likely start at around $21,000.
