2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: Release Date, Diesel, Price

The Jeep’s Wrangler model is one of the most recognizable and capable SUVs on the road. This iconic model is known for its excellent off-road ability and we can say with no doubt that there is no terrain which Wrangler cannot conquer. Furthermore, it is one of the Jeep’s most expensive models in the lineup besides the Grand Cherokee model. In order to keep it competitive, the car maker decided to give it some mild adjustments, so we are hoping to see soon the all new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Like you probably already know, in addition to this four-door Unlimited version, we will also see the standard two-door Wrangler and the Wrangler truck model.

The upcoming Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will represent the next generation model. According to the spy photos, this model looks very similar to the current one. However, if we take a closer look, we can notice some light but noticeable differences. It will receive adjustments all over the body and it will continue to be available with removable doors and roof. Moreover, besides the V-6 powertrain, it should get a new inline-4 unit under its hood. As for the interior, we assume that it should offer more tech features and probably slightly upgraded cabin.

The main competitors of the new Jeep will be Toyota 4Runner, Nissan Frontier, Land Rover Discovery, Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Land Cruiser.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited engines and performances

Under the hood of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be placed several types of engines. It will continue with the same 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine. However, this time it will most likely get a new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged unit. As well, latest news claims that a 3.0-liter V-6 turbo diesel will be available too. As for the transmission, it will come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Furthermore, the six-speed manual transmission will be also available.

Design of exterior and interior

As far as the exterior is concerned, the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will continue with its well-known boxy design. It will keep using the solid frame with fully removable doors and roof. However, as the second generation model, we will see many small but visible changes. The front fascia will feature larger, more upright grille with seven slats. The bumper will be larger and slightly redesigned too;  as well, the fog lights will be moved from the center to the edges of the bumper. The front fenders will get LED light strips. The hood will be a bit longer and won’t be so angular like before. The rear end should also get some small cosmetic changes.

Furthermore, the new Wrangler should appear with reduced weight because of the usage of lightweight materials such as aluminum etc. This will make it more aerodynamic and better to handle.

Speaking of the interior, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be redesigned too with improved materials and more modern technology. The dashboard will most likely feature a 5.0-inch touchscreen display. Based on the spy shots, we have also noticed buttons for parking-assist sensors, a heated steering wheel and engine start/stop functionality.
