The French car maker has recently revealed its popular SUVs-the 3008 and 5008 models. And now they are soon planning to introduce the all new 2018 Peugeot 2008. This smallest crossover SUV in the brand’s lineup has been on the market for just a couple of years. And the redesigned version of this model has been presented last year. However, the 2018 model year will represent the second generation model which means that it will probably bring many upgrades and changes. The latest Peugeot 2008 has already been caught during its testing under disguise in Spain. Despite the camouflage, it was obvious that the upcoming 2008 will share some design cues with its larger siblings.
Furthermore, the Peugeot 2008 will also arrive slightly larger than the current model. This will also affect its interior space which means roomier cabin and more comfort. The new 2008 will be available in four trims. Those are: Access, Active, Allure and the top trim GT.
2018 Peugeot 2008 types of engines and performance
The 2018 Peugeot 2008 will arrive with several types of engines under its hood. There will most likely be several diesel and petrol units to choose from. The petrol units will include 1.2-liter and 1.6-liter units. Among the diesel engines there will be a 1.4-liter and a 1.6-liter powertrains. The engines will pair with a 5- and 6-speed manual or a 4- and 6-speed automatic transmission which will depend on a size of the engine. The front-wheel drive system will be standard. Unfortunately, the all-wheel drive configuration won’t be in offer.
Design of exterior and interior
The upcoming 2018 Peugeot 2008 will also have some similarities with the next generation Opel Meriva and Citroen C3 Picasso models. They will all ride on the PSA platform.Furthermore, the future Peugeot will increase in size. As for the external appearance, the 2008 will feature similar design as the 3008 and 5008 models, but it will only be smaller. Compared to the current model, this compact crossover will get sportier appearance and cleaner design. The front end is dominated by attractive black grille with chrome accents and the Peugeot insignia in the middle of it. The headlamps also feature unique design and are equipped with LED lighting. The rear end is nicely sculpted too with C-shaped taillights and sporty spoiler. The top trim GT will ride on special 17-inch alloy wheels.
When it comes to interior design of the 2018 Peugeot 2008, unfortunately there is still no any official information. However, what is sure is that the cabin is going to be roomier than before. Because of the stretched wheelbase, the new Peugeot will provide more legroom for the rear passengers. Naturally, it will be more comfortable as well. As for the equipment, the new Peugeot should arrive with the same features as before. However, we believe that it should get a few more standard infotainment and safety systems.
Release date and price
The 2018 Peugeot 2008 should arrive later this year. As for the price, it will most likely be similar to the price of the current model, perhaps slightly higher.
