The brand new Porsche Cayenne is almost finished and it is going to hit the market sometime during next year. 2018 Porsche Cayenne will represent the third generation model. So, we can expect many surprises. It has been spotted during its testing. And from what we have seen, the new Porsche will bring some interesting changes. At first glance, it might seem that the exterior hasn’t gotten some radical changes. However, Cayenne has undergone some major improvements, especially when it comes to the powertrain.

As well, new Cayenne will share some things with Porsche Panamera, such as hybrid engine, and a platform used in Audi Q. It is also said that this time, it will appear with an all-electric powertrain.

Types of engines and performance

Like we have already said, 2018 Porsche Cayenne will share the same engines which power the Panamera model. So, the new Cayenne will be available with several V-6 and V-8 engine. The one will be a 3.6-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to make 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, it will be able to reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The next option could be a 4.8-liter V-8 engine. This one will be capable of making even 570 horses and 567 pound-feet of torque. Company has said that it will be able to hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds with this unit.

The hybrid version is supposed be a combination of a 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged engine and an electric motor. All together they will be able to deliver 416 horsepower.

As for the transmission, it will most likely be mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. And the power will be sent to all wheels.

Design of exterior and interior

The next generation Cayenne will now use VW group`s MLB Evo platform which also underpins Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. The next Lamborghini Urus and Volkswagen Touareg will also on this architecture. This platform is much lighter so the new Porsche should appear with reduced weight for roughly 200 pounds. This reduction will improve fuel efficiency, and will show handling benefits.

Speaking of the exterior, we can say with no mistake that its design will be revolutionary. It will be inspired by the smaller Macan SUV and Panamera. 2018 Porsche Cayenne looks sleek, elegant and modern. Its body will maintain its recognizable SUV line. However, at first sight we will notice revised both front and rear fascias. The front will feature new hood, new air intakes and refreshed LED headlamps. The whole front fascia will get more aggressive appearance now. On the rear end, we will see new sleeker, wraparound tail lamps too.

Inside, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne should also be similar to the Panamera. The dashboard will be simple and will have less buttons because of the revised and more modern touchscreen. The seats will be supportive and very comfortable. The whole cabin will provide more legroom because of the larger platform. It will be very well equipped too. Bluetooth, navigation, USB connectivity are just some of the standard features.
