2018 Renault Captur: Review, Specs, Price

The Renault Captur has become one of the brand’s best-selling SUVs in the European market. This model has been launched back in 2013 and after that it has been upgraded as the 2017 model year. Those changes included new design of the exterior such as new bumpers, headlamps etc. As well, the interior has been revised with more quality materials and upgraded infotainment system. Although the Captur seems didn’t need to receive any changes, the car maker decided to introduce the new 2018 Renault Captur with some small but noticeable improvements.

So with the upcoming Captur, we will see some new colors for the exterior, as well some minor cosmetic changes on the front. The interior will be more refined and will look more elegant. We can also expect more comfort especially in the higher trims. Moreover, the equipment will be upgraded as well with more standard and optional systems.

When it comes to the engine department, the new 2018 Renault Captur will receive several types of engines under its hood. There will be a choice between diesel and petrol units. So, the base engine should be a 1.2-liter turbo petrol which will be able to make 110 horses. This unit gets 51 mpg and it is able to hit 60 mph in 9.9 seconds.

The next option will be a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. This one will have the output of 108 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Its top speed will be 112 mph and it will be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in 11.4 seconds. As for the fuel efficiency, it is rated at 76 mpg. Some sources also claim that the new Renault will appear with a 1.6-liter engine which will be able to make 158 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque.

As for the transmission, a six-speed manual will be standard while the brand’s 6-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) automatic gearbox should be available too. The front-wheel drive system will be standard too.

Design of exterior and interior

When it comes to exterior design, this model has received most of the changes as the 2017 model year. It has gotten new bumpers and headlamps. So, the upcoming 2018 Renault Captur will continue with the current model’s design but it will feature some small adjustments. The front will be dominated by the recognizable grille with chrome trim, restyled headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lights and larger air intakes. On the rear, there will be new taillights.

Inside, the 2018 Renault Captur will be sleeker, more elegant and well equipped. The materials used in the design of the cabin will be more quality such as soft-touch plastics, leather etc. The cabin will be available in several color combinations to choose from. The new two-tone dashboard will feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen with infotainment system. As for the equipment, some of the features included will be: Bluetooth, navigation, satellite radio, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera etc. The premium Bose sound system and a new panoramic sunroof will be available as well.

Release date and price

The new 2018 Renault Captur should go on sale later this year. Speaking of the price, it should be around $31,000.
