The current generation of the Suzuki Jimny has been on the market for a longer period of time. The car maker has finally decided to introduce the next, fourth generation of this model. So, this time, we are about to see the all new 2018 Suzuki Jimny.
The official images of the future Jimny have leaked on the internet where we could see what novelties and adjustments it will bring. According to these photos the new Suzuki will keep its recognizable appearance with slightly more square form and some styling modifications too. The interior will also keep with its unique and not so typical design but will be definitively improved with better materials and new tech features. It should arrive with several types of engine under its hood and a standard all-wheel drive. This smaller SUV will be very reliable in off-road rides and when we add its reasonable price and practicality, we must admit that it will be a good choice for those who love adventures.
2018 Suzuki Jimny powertrain and performance
Speaking of the engine of the 2018 Suzuki Jimny, this information is still under the question mark. We have only heard some rumors of the engine which could power the next generation if the Jimny. So if these spaculations are true, we should see several units under its hood. The one could be a 1.3-liter inline-4 which will have the output of 81 horses and 110 pound-feet of torque. This enigne will pair to a five-speed automatic transmission. However, it should also be available with a 4-speed automatic. As for the drivetrain, the all-wheel drive configuration will be standard.
Furthermore, the new Jimny could also arrive with a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder BoosterJet powertrain. But any further information and specifications about this unit are unavailable at the moment.
Design of exterior and interior
The new 2018 Suzuki Jimny will arrive much lighter than the current model. Its weight will be reduced for around 250 pounds because of the usage of lighweight materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber. This will of course affect better fuel economy and handling.
Looking its exterior, the future Jimny will appear with its traditional rugged design but its will look more squarish. The front end will be dominated by more stylish grille with five vertical slats. The grille is now black which makes a nice contrast to the rest of the body. Furthermore, we will also see new rounded headlamps instead of the square ones found in its predecessor. The rear end will most likely get new taillights. The new Suzuki will ride on five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels.
When it comes to interior design, the 2018 Suzuki Jimny will continue with rugged design. The cabin will look simple but it will be upgraded with more quality materials and equipment. The central console will feature a larger display with infotainment system. Unfortunately, this is all we can say about the Jimny’s interior because of the lack of information.
Release date and price
The 2018 Suzuki Jimny should make its world’s premiere in late 2017. As for the pricing, it will probably start at around $15,800 while the higher trims will go up to $20,000.
