If you are in a market for a spacious crossover SUV, ideal for families, then you should check out the latest Acura MDX. It represents the brand’s flagship crossover and it is the only vehicle with three rows of seats in the offer. The 2017 model year has been revised with more attractive styling, the standard all-wheel-drive system and the new trim called Sport Hybrid. This hybrid engine has shown improved fuel efficiency which can easily compete against Lexus RX Hybrid and BMW X5 plug-in hybrid models. The 2018 MDX has recently arrived with a few upgrades including technology. However, according to the latest news, the Japanese manufacturer is working on the newest version of this model which will enter the market as the 2019 Acura MDX.
The Acura MDX is a luxury crossover SUV which is also one of the largest SUVs with the highest starting price in the brand’s SUV lineup. The families particularly are the target group because of MDX’s generous space inside the cabin and excellent safety equipment. With an addition of the hybrid engine, the new Acura is even more fuel efficient but at the same time it delivers strong performance and it is quick. However, the MDX is not an affordable vehicle and with the optional packages, it gets a bit pricey.
The 2017 model year has introduced for the first time a hybrid version of the MDX model named MDX Sport Hybrid which has arrived with better fuel economy and handling too. It has also arrived with the standard all-wheel drive (for the hybrid version).
The 2018 MDX has added some improvements in the technology. Those included the new 7.0-inch touchscreen with the latest infotainment system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. This new display is now more responsive than before. As well, the carmaker has also added two new exterior colors. Those are Basque Red and San Marino Red color shades.
Finally, the manufacturer is also planning to reveal the newest 2019 Acura MDX. Unfortunately, there is still no any official about changes which the upcoming Acura is going to bring. However, we assume that it shouldn’t arrive with some significant adjustments and that it will most likely remain unchanged. The MDX should continue to be available as a single model but it will be available with several packages and the new MDX Sport Hybrid version. Its main rivals on the market will include Infiniti QX60, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, GMC Acadia, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Lexus RX.

Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to the exterior design, the Acura MDX has been fully revised back in 2014 and since then it hasn’t been changing much except some small refreshments in order to look fresher. The 2017 MDX has gotten revised bumper and fenders and sharper LED headlights. As well, it has received more handsome diamond-pentagon grille, the new design of the hood and sporty dual-exhaust pipes. So, the upcoming 2019 Acura MDX will most likely continue with the same design as the current model. It will ride on the standard 18-inch wheels while it will also be available with 20-inch ones.
As far as the interior is concerned, the 2019 Acura MDX is a spacious crossover which offers three rows of seats. It is able to welcome up to eight passengers. The first and the second rows of seats are very comfortable and supportive while the third row is a bit tight, at least for adults. So, it is more suitable for children and smaller adults. The optional Advance package will add sportier seats. The cargo space is very ample offering 15.3 cubic feet of space. However, with the folded third row, it provides the space of 43.4 cubic feet. The seats are covered in quality leather upholstery. The 2018 MDX has added the new 7.0-inch touchscreen with the infotainment system and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Speaking of the equipment, the standard features will include three-zone climate control, a moonroof, LED headlamps, power-adjustable front seats, four USB ports, audio system with eight speakers, keyless ignition etc. However, the MDX will offer two packages: Advance and Technology. Furthermore, there will also be an optional rear entertainment system which comes with a 9.0-inch screen with Blu-ray player for rear passengers, and stereo system with 11 speakers.
When it comes to the safety, the standard equipment will include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, airbags and LED headlamps.
