Want a premium tech equipment, good ride quality, attractive styling and luxury in a compact vehicle then the Buick Encore should be on your list. It is one of the smallest cars in the Buick lineup and also the most affordable; but if you’re looking for something larger, then you could see the Envision or Enclave models. The current, 2018 Buick Encore has been revealed and brought a few changes, mostly in the tech department. However, the newest version has also been announced, so we are soon hoping to see the brand new 2019 Buick Encore. However, the 2019 model year won’t bring any major upgrades and for a major overhaul, we will have to wait for the year of 2021.
The current model has arrived with upgrades in the equipment. Those included some new optional features such as interior air cleaner and HD radio. As well, now the capless fuel filler is standard on all models and there is a new exterior color-the Coppertino Metallic. On the other hand, the 2019 model year will also continue unchanged. And the only revisions we might see are some new exterior colors too and a few more interior color combinations. Furthermore, there could be minor upgrades in the tech department while the engine will stay the same. Some sources also claim that we should finally see the new GM 9-speed automatic gearbox, but this is not yet confirmed.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Buick Encore
The 2019 Buick Encore will feature one engine under its hood. However, depending on a trim level, the engine will feature a direct injection which will add 15 horses more. So, the base and the Preferred trims will be powered by a 1.4-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine which will be able to make 138 hp and the torque of 148. With standard front-wheel drive, this unit gets 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. With AWD, it is rated at 26/31 mpg.
The Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence and Premium version will get the same engine but with direct injection. This engine will have the output of 153 horses and 177 lb-ft of torque. It scores 25/33 mpg with front-wheel drive while with all-wheel drive it gets 24/30 mpg. Both engines work with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Design of exterior and interior
As previously said, the 2019 Buick Encore will keep its classy, SUV-shaped and attractive styling. It looks very handsome with its simple grille, nicely sculpted hood and stylish 18-inch wheels. So, this time the palette of the exterior colors might be expanded for a shade or two.
The cabin of the 2019 Buick Encore could also be upgraded with some new color combinations and perhaps more features. But generally, its interior is simple, elegant and very quiet. The comfort is on the high level although the rear seat passengers might feel a bit tight. The dashboard is also well-designed and features an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Among other standard equipment, there is a rearview camera, keyless ignition, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, power windows and locks, and cruise control. Depending on a trim level, the Encore is also available with blind-spot monitors, Bose audio, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, a power moonroof and so on.
Release date and price
We assume that the 2019 Buick Encore should arrive in late 2018. The price should start at around $24,000 which is similar to the 2018 model year.
