The Chevrolet carmaker has added the fourth crossover SUV model in its lineup with the newest Chevy Trailblazer. This model has already been spotted during the testing and wearing heavy camouflage. In terms of size, the newest 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be placed between the Equinox and the larger Traverse model. At the moment, it is still not certain where it is going to be produced but it will most likely be at GM Lansing Delta Township in Michigan or at GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. And it will be available in America, Africa, China, and other markets.
From the outside, the newest Trailblazer will be based on the Chevy’s latest design language. It will use the same platform as the GMC Acadia which means that these models will share similar dimensions. In addition to this, the Trailblazer should also use the same engine options as the Acadia. However, it is also expected to get some new engines too. Moving to the cabin, we assume that there could also be some similarities with the GMC Acadia. Furthermore, the new Chevy will be available with two-row and three-row seating configurations.
In the midsize crossover SUV class, the new Chevy will find toughest rivals in Kia Sorento, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Nissan Murano, Toyota Highlander and others.
Engines and performances of the 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer
Although it is still not officially confirmed, the 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer will probably be offered with the same engines as the GMC Acadia. The base is a 2.5-liter inline-4 which is able to generate 194 horsepower. The second option should be a 3.6-liter V-6 naturally aspirated engine. This one will be capable of making 310 horses. Furthermore, we might also see a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. As for the transmission, all the options will work with a 9-speed automatic transmission. However, the lower trim levels could get a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Depending on the engine you choose, there will be an option between front-wheel and all-wheel drive systems.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be based on a version, precisely the short-wheelbase variant of the C1XX architecture which also underpins the GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5. So, they will share the same dimensions. As for the exterior design, there isn’t much information. However, it is said that it will feature more traditional roofline design, and similar design of the LED headlamps and front wheel arch as in the FNR-X model. As well, the rear end will get more pronounced dual exhaust outlets. Furthermore, it will probably arrive with full LED lighting, or at least partially.
The cabin of the 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer will have two variants: with two-row and three-row seating configuration. Like for the exterior, the Chevy Blazer will also have a similar dimension of the cabin as the GMC Acadia. In the tech department, we expect the newest Chevrolet MyLink infotainment and advanced GM safety features. Besides that, there isn’t any further data about its interior.
Release date and price
The 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer should arrive sometime in the end of this year. The starting price is expected to be around $27,000-$30,000.
