The GMC Acadia is a mid-size crossover SUV which is now in its second generation. The 2017 model year has arrived with significantly smaller dimensions which made it easier to maneuver and handle. But despite that, the Acadia still offers plenty of space inside the cabin which makes it a great choice for families. The 2018 GMC Acadia has just entered the market; but according to the latest news, the carmaker is also working on the newest 2019 GMC Acadia which should arrive with a few upgrades.
The GMC Acadia is strong performance sport utility vehicle which has a spacious interior with three-row seating configuration. However, the third row is a bit tight so it is more suitable for children. As well, it is not the only option and it is available with five-, six- and seven-seating configurations in the All-Terrain trim which was introduced for the 2018 model year. It offers a wide choice of trims and optional equipment also. However, the advanced safety equipment could make it a bit pricey.
The 2018 GMC Acadia has arrived pretty much the same as its predecessor and it has only brought some small adjustments in the tech department which included some new features. So, this time the Acadia is available with an automatic heated steering wheel, tire fill alert, and the new 20-inch wheels. As well, a 3.6-liter V-6 engine is now offered in the SLE trim and the All-Terrain trim is available with several seating configurations which we have mentioned earlier.
The newest 2019 GMC Acadia is expected to arrive pretty much unchanged except some small changes. Therefore, we could see some upgrades considering equipment and perhaps a few more exterior colors and some new interior combinations. Under the hood, there won’t be any changes applied. Furthermore, it should arrive with the same trim levels as before. Those include SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali trims. However, there will also be an All Terrain package which will be an option for the SLE and SLT versions. Its main rivals will be Mazda CX-9, Volkswagen Atlas, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer.
2019 GMC Acadia engine and performance
The 2019 GMC Acadia will be available with two types of engines depending on a trim level. The base engine will be a 2.5-liter inline-4 which will have the output of 193 horses and 188 pound-feet of torque. This unit will pair with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The more powerful unit will be a 3.6-liter V-6. It will be able to develop 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. This unit will be mated to the same 6-speed automatic. Furthermore, it will be offered with front- and all-wheel-drive systems.
As for the fuel economy, the base engine with FWD gets 21/26/23 mpg while with AWD it gets 21/25/20 mpg. The V-6, with front-wheel, is rated at 18 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, it is estimated to be 17/25/20 mpg in the city/highway/combined.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 GMC Acadia will continue with the same look of the current model which is defined with masculine and clean lines. The optional All-Terrain which will be available on SLT and Denali trims will give it more rugged appearance. It will ride on standard 17-inch alloy wheels while the larger 20-inch alloys will be optional and standard on Denali trims.
The interior of the 2019 GMC Acadia will be roomy and very comfortable. It will be able to welcome up to seven passengers in three rows of seats. As well, it will also offer five- and six-seating configurations. The second row of seats is easy to access while the third row will be most suitable for children. The dashboard will feature a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with the infotainment system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
As for the equipment, the base model will include three-zone automatic climate control, keyless open and start, five USB ports, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot and so on. The higher trims will add satellite radio, 8.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats and an eight-way power driver’s seat. The SLT-1 will include Bose audio system, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, leather upholstery and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. As for the safety, seven airbags, a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes and stability control will be standard.

The 2019 GMC Acadia should arrive in late 2018. Speaking of the price, it will most likely be very similar to the current model which starts at around $29,000.
