The GMC Yukon is now in its fourth generation. The 2018 model year has just arrived at the market and the carmaker is yet planning the newest 2019 GMC Yukon. This model will most likely be the last version of the current generation and after that, we can expect a major redesign in 2020 or 2021.
The GMC Yukon is a full-size SUV which is perfect for large families and a great choice if you are planning to tow often since it has excellent towing abilities. There is also the longer version of this model called Yukon XL. It comes in several trim levels which include SLE, SLT, and Denali versions. The 2018 Yukon has gotten some styling changes including the new chrome grille and restyled headlamps will LED daytime running lights. There were also some upgrades in the mechanical department and it is the new 10-speed automatic transmission.
So, the 2019 GMC Yukon shouldn’t be a large departure from the outgoing model. Perhaps it will bring a few more exterior colors and interior combinations. The carmaker could also upgrade it with the newest MyLink infotainment system. Speaking of the engine, there won’t be any changes applied.
Engine and transmission of the 2019 GMC Yukon
The 2019 GMC Yukon will be powered by the two types of engines under its hood. The base will be a 5.3-liter V-8 engine which will be able to generate 355 horses and 383 pound-feet of torque. This unit gets 16/23 mpg with 2WD, while with AWD it is rated at 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The 4WD XL trim gets 15/22 mpg in the city/highway drive.
The second unit is found in the Denali trim and it is a 6.2-liter V-8. This engine has the output of 420 hp and the torque of 460 lb-ft. with two-wheel drive it is rated at 14/23 mpg and with all-wheel drive it is estimated to be 14/22 mpg in the city/highway.
All the engines will pair with a ten-speed automatic gearbox.
External appearance and interior design
The 2019 GMC Yukon will keep the same appearance as the 2018 model year which has just been revised with new chrome grille and refreshed HID headlamps and LED daytime running lights. According to the latest rumors, it could only get one or two new exterior colors.
Moving to the interior of the 2019 GMC Yukon, we will instantly notice spacious cabin which will be able to welcome up to eight passengers in three rows of seats. The first and the second row are cozy and roomy while the third row is the best for children. The third row can also fold flat for an extra cargo space. The dashboard will feature an 8-inch touchscreen with the latest infotainment system.
The standard equipment in all trims will include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, AM/FM/SiriusXM audio system, 4G LTE Wi-Fi and so on. The Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will also be standard. The higher trims will add leather upholstery, ventilated and heated seats, navigation, a moonroof, a rear-seat entertainment system and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 GMC Yukon should arrive in late 2018. Its price will be pretty much the same as the current version which starts at roughly $49,000.
