The Honda Element has always been popular among those who need an SUV capability and practicality. However, this model is also convenient for everyday city driving as well. It offers spacious and functional cabin with very generous cargo space which can be expanded with seats folded down. The Element hasn’t been in production for a couple of years, but it seems that the carmaker has decided to change it. So, if the latest rumors are true, we are about to see the all-new and improved 2019 Honda Element.
2019 Honda Element powertrain and performance
The all-new 2019 Honda Element might return with the same engine as its forerunner, but it is also very possible that it will get some new options. So, the current model comes with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. This unit is able to develop 166 horses and 161 lb-ft of torque. It is linked to a 5-speed automatic gearbox and comes with a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive systems. As for the fuel efficiency, it is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with FWD. The all-wheel drive model gets 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, some sources say that the carmaker might also offer it with the same unit which powers the HR-V model. It is a 1.8-liter unit which can deliver 140 horsepower. The new Element could also come with a 1.5-liter engine which is rated at 190 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. However, this information is not officially confirmed.
Design of exterior and interior
Since the 2019 Honda Element will represent the next generation model, we can expect major adjustments in the terms of exterior styling. However, we assume that it will keep its familiar boxy shape which could only be slightly smoothened. So, this time the new Element will probably get revised grille, hood, and new headlamps. They could get the new LED lighting so as the taillights. Furthermore, we expect to see new taillights and bumper on the rear end as well. So, the whole design should be more modern and attractive in order to stay competitive in the already crowded SUV market.
As before, the interior of the 2019 Honda Element will offer a functional, roomy, and nicely designed cabin. It features two rows of seats which can all be folded down and make it as a bed if needed. With the rear seats folded down, the Element can even carry a bike in upright. So, its cargo room is very practical and generous. Furthermore, on all doors, there are cup holders and storage pockets. As well, the seats are easy to clean since they are covered in special fabric. As for the equipment, it should come standard with power windows, cruise control, audio system with 4 speakers, a rearview camera, remote entry, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes.
Release date and price
It is still not clear when the 2019 Honda Element could hit the market. Perhaps it could be sometime during 2019. The price should begin at roughly $22,000.
