Whether you want a spacious cabin and attractive design, or a reliable vehicle with great safety ratings, the Honda Pilot is all of that in one. Like we all already know is that the Pilot is a three-row crossover SUV suitable for larger families and their adventures. It provides a cozy ride, good maneuverability and handling, and great safety equipment. Alongside the traditional engine, the Honda offers it with a hybrid engine as well which shows respectable fuel economy. The 2018 model year has just appeared on the market with no major changes compared to the 2017 version. However, the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid should get some minor but visible upgrades.
The 2019 model year has been spotted during its testing but it has been partially covered. So based on the place of the camouflage, we are pretty sure that the front fascia will feature most of the changes. As well, the carmaker will also apply some minor changes on the rear, mostly on the tail lamps. The interior of the newest Pilot should differ from the outgoing model, but it is not excluded that it might get some upgrades in the technology front.
The engine and performance of the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid
The standard Honda Pilot will get the same engine as before and it is a 3.5-liter V-6 unit. This engine is able to generate 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with either 6-speed automatic or a 9-speed automatic gearbox in Touring and Elite models. The front-wheel drive is standard but it is also available with all-wheel drive layout.
On the other hand, the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will be powered by the hybrid engine which is also used in the Honda Accord. This unit pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Unfortunately, the manufacturer hasn’t revealed the exact output of this unit. But we expect similar performance as in the Accord model.
Exterior and interior design
Based on the spy shots, the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid should be slightly restyled this time. The front fascia will be revised with a new design of the grille and restyled headlamps which will be equipped with LED lighting. The taillights have also been covered up, so we are pretty sure that they will also get a new look. However, the rest of the body should stay unchanged.
According to the latest news, the cabin of the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid shouldn’t get any large changes. It is a three-row crossover which is able to carry up to eight passengers. It delivers great space for all and it is very comfortable. On the center of the dashboard, there is an 8.0-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Every Honda Pilot is equipped with air conditioning, cloth upholstery, power features, USB, AM/FM audio system, and 17-inch wheels. In the higher trim, you will also find navigation, parking sensors, a Blu-ray entertainment system, leather, satellite radio, three-zone climate control, and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid should be presented sometime during next year. The pricing is not yet revealed, but the hybrid version should definitively be higher than the standard version which starts at roughly $31,000.
