The Santa Fe model is the Hyundai’s flagship SUV which has recently entered the market as the 2018 model year. However, its design has started to be a bit outdated, and when we compare it to its main rivals such as Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander, it is definitively ready to be upgraded visually and technically. However, the much-needed redesign is not far. As the matter of fact, the carmaker is preparing the all-new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe.
The upcoming Hyundai will represent the next or precisely the fourth generation model. It is set to make its world’s premiere at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this March. However, the new Santa Fe has already been caught during its testing wearing lots of camouflage, and the images of the interior have also appeared. So, according to these photos, the fourth-gen Santa Fe will look sharper and more muscular. The interior will be upgraded with more quality materials and there will be some changes in details. The current model features one engine option but for the 2019 model year, there should be at least one more engine in the offer and perhaps a hybrid drivetrain.
Powertrain and performances
The current Santa Fe features one single engine under its hood. It is a 3.3-liter V-6 engine which is capable of making 290 horses and 252 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with a six-speed automatic gearbox. Furthermore, it is available with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. With FWD, it gets 18/25 mpg in the city/highway. With all-wheel drive it is rated at 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe will probably get this same unit but it should feature another one as well. It should be a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. This unit will be able to deliver around 194 horses and will feature a standard all-wheel drive configuration.
On the other hand, the new Santa Fe could appear with a hybrid engine also. But nothing is yet sure and there isn’t any specific information yet.
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe exterior and interior
The latest images of the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe indicate that it will now look sharper and more muscular with a more sculpted body and details. Its design will very much look like the latest Kona model, especially on the front. There will be the new and more massive grille, significantly slimmer headlamps with thin LED daytime running lights and chunkier bumper. The alloy wheels will also grow in size and will make it look sportier.
As far as the interior is concerned, the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe will also borrow some design cues from the Kona model. The cabin space won’t be significantly changed but will notice from instant more quality materials. Furthermore, the infotainment display will be replaced and will be positioned on the top of the dashboard. As well, the carmaker will equip it with more standard features this time.
Release date and price
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe will be presented in a month while it should go on sale later this year. The pricing is still not known.
