According to the latest news, the all new Jeep Wrangler is on the way and it will hit the market as the 2019 model year. The upcoming 2019 Jeep Wrangler will represent the next generation of this model, which will most likely arrive in late 2019.
The new Jeep will appear in several versions. Those will be the 4-door Wrangler Unlimited, the JL Wrangler and a Wrangler pickup which will most likely be named the Scrambler. Visually, the car maker won’t do anything large since they want to keep its recognizable rugged design. However, some small upgrades and adjustments will be done for sure. Its body is made ig high strength steel but the company will use more aluminum in its design too. This will improve fuel efficiency and general performance of the vehicle. Under the hood, there will be several inline-4 and V-6 units so as the two transmission options. Furthermore, the future Wrangler will be available as the two- and four-door model so as with soft and hard top versions.
The production of the next-generation Wrangler will take place in Toledo, Ohio.
2019 Jeep Wrangler engines and performances
Under the hood of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler should be placed several types of engines. However, nothing is yet officially confirmed and most is based on the latest rumors. So, the new Wrangler should be powered with several diesel and gasoline units. As well, there will be a choice of 4-cylinder, V-6 and V-8 drivetrains. The one option is expected to be a new inline-4 turbocharged unit named “Hurricane” which should be available to produce up to 300 horses. The next option could be a 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine which powers the current model. This unit is able to generate 285 horsepower. Furthermore, there will also be a diesel 3.0-liter turbo V-6 engine.
On the other hand, some sources claim that the new Jeep will also get a Hellcat engine. It is a V-8 supercharged engine which has the output of 707 horsepower. However, this is not so likely to happen. As for the transmission, the engine will pair with either 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox. The all-wheel drive configuration will be standard.
Design of exterior and interior
Like the current model, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler will be based on the body-on-frame architecture which is mostly made of steel. However, the car maker will use aluminum in order to improve fuel economy. When it comes to the exterior design, the new Jeep will keep its well-known boxy appearance. However, it will receive some minor changes in order to look fresh. Those will include new grille and revised LED headlamps on the front fascia. The rear will also be refreshed with new LED tail lamps.
Inside, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler should get some major upgrades. Although the details haven’t been revealed yet, we can expect the new FCA’s UConnect infotainment system.
