2019 Lexus NX: Redesign, Hybrid, Review

Relatively a new model on the market which made its premiere back in 2015, the Lexus NX is definitively worth your attention. It is the brand’s smallest luxury SUV which is becoming more and more successful. After its debut, this crossover has been mildly refreshed as the 2018 model year. However, because of its popularity and growing sales, the carmaker is working on the newest 2019 Lexus NX. But, it has just been revised, and we assume that there won’t be any major upgrades.

The first novelty which 2018 NX has brought is the new name; precisely, the base NX 200t has been renamed the NX 300. However, besides the base version, the NX is also available as NX 300F Sport and NX 300h Hybrid. Furthermore, its exterior has gotten more aggressive styling and some changes inside the cabin. There is also some new optional equipment in the offer which includes larger 10.3-inch screen, adaptive dampers, and foot-activated rear liftgate. As well, the Lexus Safety System + has now become standard in all trim levels.

So, the 2019 Lexus NX should arrive pretty much the same as the current model.

The 2019 Lexus NX will be available with two engines under the hood. The base will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This unit is able to develop 235 horses and the torque of 258 lb-ft. It will pair with a six-speed automatic transmission and there will be a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive system. This unit is rated at 22/28 mpg while the F Sport model gets 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

The hybrid engine will combine a 2.5-liter inline-4 and electric motors. The first engine is able to make 154 hp and the torque of 125 lb-ft. The front electric motor is capable of producing 141 hp while the rear one can deliver 67 horses. All together, they will have the output of 194 horsepower. As for the fuel efficiency, it is estimated to be 33 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

Exterior and interior design

The current Lexus NX has been revised with more aggressive styling and sharper look. The front end has gotten slightly revised spindle grille and swept-back headlamps with L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The F Sport trim added black mesh grille, black side mirrors, and 18-inch wheels. The larger 19-inch alloys are optional. So, the 2019 Lexus NX should retain the same external appearance.

The interior of the 2019 Lexus NX is quiet, cozy and very modern. The front seats are adjustable and very comfortable while the rear ones aren’t that cozy. The dashboard is equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay aren’t on the offer once again.

All the NX versions will come with dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, power-adjustable front seats, automatic headlamps, and so on. The will be two optional packages in the offer also. The comfort package will add heated and ventilated seats, blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and electrochromic mirrors. The Luxury Package will include leather seats, blind-spot warning, interior wood trim, a power liftgate etc.
