After a redesign of the Continental, Navigator and MKZ models, the Lincoln manufacturer has decided to give a few upgrades to it entry-level crossover known as Lincoln MKC. It is a compact crossover SUV which will soon join the market as the 2019 Lincoln MKC. It has been presented at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show and it should enter the showrooms later this year.
The Lincoln MKC is a luxury crossover which is attractive and very well-equipped. It offers quality and modern cabin although the rear seats are a bit tight, at least for larger passengers. The 2019 model year has undergone a mid-cycle refresh which means that the MKC will now bring many interesting changes. The most noticeable upgrade will be visible on the front fascia including a new grille. The safety will finally be upgraded with more standard features and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will finally be available. The new MKC will be available in four trim levels. Those will include the base Premiere, Select, Reserve, and the range-topping Black Level. Its main rivals on the market will be Mercedes-Benz GLC Class, BMW X3, Lexus RX, Infiniti QX50, and Acura RDX.
2019 Lincoln MKC engines and performances
In the engine department, this time there won’t be any changes. The 2019 Lincoln MKC will receive the same engines as the current model and there are two of them. The base is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which will be able to develop 245 horses and 275 pound-feet of torque. The second option is a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to develop 285 horses and 305 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, there will be a choice between a front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Its towing capacity will be up to 3,000 pounds.
Design of exterior and interior
The biggest change of the new 2019 Lincoln MKC will be its exterior design. Both front and rear fascias will be refreshed. The most noticeable upgrade is a new rectangular, chrome grille which was firstly introduced in the Lincoln Navigator. The headlamps will be slightly revised too. The rear end will also feature some small adjustment and there will be more chrome details and restyled taillights.
Speaking of the interior of the 2019 Lincoln MKC, the carmaker hasn’t done any large work. It will continue to be quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped. However, there will be some changes considering technology. The dashboard will feature the same 8.0-inch touchscreen with Sync3 but this time, it will receive Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity which is standard.
Among other standard equipment, there will be power liftgate, dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera, stereo system with 9 speakers, keyless ignition and heated seats. As for the safety, the MKC will now receive more standard systems. Those will include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, airbags etc. Furthermore, the blind-spot monitors, lane departure warning, and active park assist will be optional.
Release date and price
The 2019 Lincoln MKC should enter the showrooms sometime in the middle of 2018. The pricing is not yet announced.
