The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a luxury midsize crossover SUV which is able to welcome up to five passengers and it is an ideal choice for families. It features a strong 4-cylinder drivetrain under the hood, great acceleration, and available all-wheel drive configuration. It is available in several versions including the GLC 300, GLC43 AMG and the high-performance GLC63 model. The current 2018 Mercedes GLC has arrived with several upgrades but the newest version has already been spotted during its testing. It is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Like the current 2018 model year, the 2019 version will arrive with some small upgrades since it is a relatively new model. The 2018 GLC has brought more standard features such as entrance lights in the doors, and a Storage Package which includes seatback pockets, remote release for the rear seatback and storage nets. As well, the AMG models are now available with AMG Sport Exhaust, AMG Performance exhaust, Track Pace App and rear chrome trim. The newest 2019 has been caught during its testing wearing a disguise so we cannot reveal much. As the matter of fact, there isn’t much to reveal really. It will bring just some mild adjustments in the exterior styling, the cabin will be slightly redesigned and we can expect more standard equipment.
The engine and performance of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will be powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This engine is able to generate 241 horses and 273 pound-feet of torque. It will pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, there will be a choice between a rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. With the rear-wheel drive, this engine gets 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. With AWD, it is estimated to be 21/28 mpg.
On the other hand, the Mercedes AMG GLC43 will use a 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbo engine. This unit will have the output of 362 horses and 384 pound-feet of torque. It will work with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and the all-wheel drive will be standard. However, the AMG GLC63 will feature a stronger unit. And it is a 4.0-liter V-8 twin-turbo with the output of 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.
Design of exterior and interior
Although it has been camouflaged, we were able to see that the upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will now feature the new chrome trim around the side windows. Furthermore, we will most likely see a new design of the headlamps and taillights. As well, one or two new exterior colors and new design of the alloy wheels are also expected.
The cabin of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will be luxurious with premium materials, leather, wood details and advanced equipment. This time, it will feature a wider and a free-standing touchscreen for the infotainment system. Moreover, perhaps the most noticeable upgrade will be a revised instrument cluster for the driver. As for the equipment, it will come standard with a rearview camera, automatic climate control, a power liftgate, satellite radio, Burmester audio, a panoramic roof and many other more.
Release date and price
The precise date of the arrival of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC is not yet known. The pricing should be similar to the one of the current model and it starts at $41,000.
