With the ability to welcome up to seven passengers, starting price of less than $25,000 and excellent safety ratings, the Mitsubishi Outlander is a good choice for families with the limited budget. It is also one of the rare small crossovers SUVs on the market which offers a third row. The 2018 model year has already appeared and brought a few upgrades among which the most important is the new plug-in hybrid variant. On the other hand, the manufacturer is preparing the newest version of this model. It will enter the dealerships as the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander.
The outgoing model has arrived with the 7.0-inch touchscreen which is now standard on all trims, so as a rearview camera. Furthermore, depending on a model, there will be some new safety features such as rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, lane change assist and so on. The GT version has also added a heated steering wheel and a multi-view camera. So, the upcoming Outlander shouldn’t radically change from the current model. 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander powertrain
The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander will be available with traditional and plug-in hybrid drivetrains. The base will be a 2.4-liter inline-4 engine. This unit will be able to generate 166 horses and 162 pound-feet of torque. It will pair with a continuously variable transmission. With front-wheel drive it gets 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. With all-wheel drive, it is rated at 24/29 mpg.
The next option is a 3.0-liter V-6 with the output of 224 hp and the torque of 215 lb-ft. This engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic. As for the fuel economy, it is estimated to be 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Finally, the plug-in hybrid engine will combine a 2.0-liter inline-4, electric motors and a battery of 12 kWh. An all-electric range of this unit will be up to 22 miles.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander will retain its simple and recognizable design. Generally, it is a handsome SUV which rides on standard 18-inch wheels. Inside the cabin, the Outlander has three rows of seats and it is able to accommodate up to seven passengers. The comfort is rather good and the materials used in its design are quality and soft. It is also quiet and very pleasant. The both second and the third row are can be folded down and you get the cargo space of 63 cubic feet. The dashboard will get a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen with the infotainment system.
The standard equipment of the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander will include Bluetooth, keyless entry, automatic climate control, a rearview camera, and heated side mirrors. The SE trim will add heated front seats, dual-climate control and push-button start. The SEL trim will receive blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, leather upholstery, remote power tailgate, and a power driver’s seat.

The release date of the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander is still not known. The price should be similar to the one of the current model which is around $24,000.
