The Porsche manufacturer has recently revealed its all new 2019 Porsche Cayenne. This popular SUV will represent the third generation of this model. It is easy to conclude that the upcoming Cayenne will bring some important changes in all segments. Firstly, the new Cayenne will be switched from the old PL71 platform and moved to the new architecture made by Audi. Visually, there will be some small yet significant adjustments. Under the hood, the new Porsche will feature three powerful units which will depend on a trim level. Inside the cabin, Cayenne will be a combination of luxury and functionality.
The Porsche Cayenne will be available in three trim levels. Those are the base, Cayenne S and the most powerful Cayenne Turbo.
2019 Porsche Cayenne powertrains and performances
Under the hood of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne will be found three types of engines. The base version will be powered with a 3.0-liter V-6 turbo engine which is able to develop 340 hp and 332 pound-feet of torque. This unit is able to hit 60 mph in around 5.9 seconds and less. Its top speed is limited to 152 mph.
The Cayenne S will get a 2.9-liter V-6 twin-turbo drivetrain. This unit will be capable of making 440 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The top speed of this unit is 164 mph while it can hit 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.
The top-ranging Cayenne Turbo will offer a 4.0-liter V-8 twin-turbo unit. This powertrain will have the output of 550 horses and the torque of 567 pound-feet. The top speed of this one is 177 mpg and it reaches 60 mpg in just 3.7 seconds. All the engines will pair with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The all-wheel drive system will be standard. On the other hand, a plug-in hybrid version still hasn’t been confirmed for the next-generation Cayenne. However, we are pretty sure that at some point, the Porsche will launch it as well.
Design of exterior and interior, platform
The upcoming 2019 Porsche Cayenne will now ride on the new Audi’s MLB architecture. It will be a bit lower, longer and wider than before as well. However, despite the increase in size, the lightweight components of the new platform will make it lighter for around 143 pounds.
When it comes to exterior, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne will feature some subtle bit noticeable changes. For example, on the front, we will notice the same trapezoidal grille which will get more emphasized horizontal slats. The rear end will receive wide and slim horizontal-strip LED taillights. Furthermore, the rear spoiler will change positions automatically which will improve its aerodynamics.
Inside, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne will be slightly roomier than earlier because of the new architecture. The cabin will combine luxury and functionality all in one. The dashboard will feature a large 12.3-inch Porsche control management touchscreen which will offer many functions and settings. As well, the center console will receive twin 7.0-inch TFT screens for the driver.
