The British smaller SUV which will stand between the Evoque and Sport models has been caught during its testing on the Nurburgring. It is the 2019 Range Rover Velar. The new Velar will be slightly larger than the Evoque and will feature sleeker and more elegant design than the Sport model. This time, the LR car maker will give it more power than before so the new Range Rover Velar is on the good way to become one of the brand’s top selling vehicles.
The prototype of the upcoming 2019 model year has been disguised, however based on the place of the camouflage we can expect some interesting changes such as new bumper etc. As well, the testing version is powered with the supercharged V-8 engine which means that it will be more powerful. The SVR trim will also be in the offer.
The main rivals of the new Range Rover Velar will e Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE63, BMW X6 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
2019 Range Rover Velar engines and performances
The upcoming 2019 Range Rover Velar will be powered with several types of engines. So, it means that it will be available with a few gasoline and diesel units including 4-cylinder and V-6 engines. As well the range-topping model will use a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 drivetrain which is able to generate 380 horsepower. However, the Range Rover Velar SVR will use the most powerful V-8 unit. It is a 5.0-liter V-8 supercharged engine. It will be able to make around 550 or even 600 horses. This unit will pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Its top speed will be limited to 186 mph.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to exterior, the new 2019 Range Rover Velar was wearing lots of camouflage but it didn’t prevent us to notice some new details and changes which it will bring. On the front fascia, we could notice new design of the bumper and larger air intakes. As well, the grille will feature a new mesh design while the headlamps will stay pretty much the same. Moving to the rear, there will be larger spoiler and revised bumper. Furthermore, we will also see new exhaust outlets and a new diffuser. The whole body will look more aggressive and sportier as well but in the same time more elegant. All these changes included should be applied to the SVR version too.
Speaking of the interior of 2019 Range Rover Velar, there is still no any official information, but we expect it to be luxurious and well-designed like before if not ever better. All the seats are very comfortable especially the front ones; and there is plenty of head and legroom for all the occupants. What could be new for the 2019 model year is the standard aluminum trim on the dashboard, doors and steering wheel. The dashboard will most likely feature a 10-inch touchscreen with Touch Pro Duo infotainment system.
Release date and price
The 2019 Range Rover Velar should arrive sometime during next year, most likely in late 2018. As for the price, it will most likely be slightly higher than the outgoing model.
