It is officially confirmed! The carmaker is planning to introduce the next generation of its best-selling SUV. And it is the all-new 2019 Renault Captur. The second generation of the popular Captur SUV will get numerous upgrades and changes. First of all, it will be underpinned by the new platform which will affect its size and we can expect some styling changes. The interior will be upgraded as well with new materials and more equipment. As for the engine, the Renault will use the same engines but there should also be some new options including a hybrid.
2019 Renault Captur engines and performances
The brand-new 2019 Renault Captur will get some changes considering engine options, but it will also use the familiar units. The previous 0.9-liter turbo engine will probably be dropped out this time. And the manufacturer will introduce a new one instead. It is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine. However, the new 1.3-liter unit could also be offered. Furthermore, the Captur will most likely keep the familiar diesel engines. The one is a 1.5-liter turbodiesel unit which can develop 85 horses and there is a stronger variant of the same engine which can produce 115 horsepower. Both engines will work with a 5-speed manual transmission but a 6-speed automatic gearbox will also be available for some units.
Moreover, the Captur comes with a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This one is able to produce 110 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. As well, according to the latest news, the 2019 Renault Captur should also receive a hybrid engine but the specific details are not yet published.
Design of exterior and interior
The current model is based on the same architecture which underpins the Clio 4. However, it is confirmed that the upcoming 2019 Renault Captur will use the CMF-B platform which will also underpin the new Nissan Juke model. So, the second generation Captur will now be slightly larger than its forerunner. The whole body will feature sharper styling and there will be new headlights with LED daytime running lights. The front end will also get restyled thin grille with brand’s insignia in the middle of it. Furthermore, we will notice revised tail lamps and restyled bumper on the rear end of the vehicle.
The interior of the newest 2019 Renault Captur should also be upgraded considering design, materials, and equipment. However, since the Captur will now grow in size because of the new platform, it is still not clear whether the manufacturer will offer a slightly larger interior. But it is very likely to happen and this will provide more space for all passengers and therefore more comfort. Furthermore, the dashboard should get a revised screen with the latest infotainment system and Android Auto connectivity. As well, the safety should be improved too with some new features. So, the Captur could get the Level 2 autonomous technology this time.
Release date and price
The next generation 2019 Renault Captur should be presented for the first time at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show which should take place in fall 2019. There is no information about its price. But we assume that it could get more expensive compared to the current model which starts at $27,000.
