2020 Acura RDX Hybrid: Trim Levels, Safety, Performance

The upcoming 2020 Acura RDX Hybrid will arrive with minor changes and upgrades. The 2019 model was redesigned as the part of the new third-generation. Compact crossover now looks even better. The exterior design looks upscale and very modern. Interior feels premium and design is also stylish and comfortable. Under the hood, there won’t be any sort of changes.

The hybrid drivetrain is finally available and it will deliver excellent fuel economy. The 2020 RDX Hybrid will get small upgrades from the outside. Most of the changes are barely visible. On the other hand, there is no need for significant changes at the moment.

Exterior Facelift

For the start, new 2020 Acura RDX Hybrid will be slightly longer than its predecessor. As a result, the crossover is slightly heavier than before. Visually, RDX won’t get significant upgrades. The exterior looks attractive and striking. The front end looks sharper and diamond pentagon grille looks impressive.

On top of that, Acura’s Jewel LED headlights, panoramic moonroof, and a power liftgate are all available. C-shaped taillights are very elegant. Acura changed the overall design last year and it is the main reason why the 2020 model is mostly unchanged.

The compact crossover comes in four trim levels. Each trim provides a certain level of luxury. The base trim comes with standard 19-inch wheels and LED headlights. The panoramic moonroof is also standard. A 10.2-inch touchscreen is available, along with the 9-speaker sound system and power adjustable front seats. AcuraWatch safety suite provides numerous systems, some of them are optional, however. We’ll get to that later. Technology trim level comes with leather upholstery, 12-speaker audio system as standard.

Stepping up to the A-Spec trim, this trim level comes with plenty of visual upgrades. Premium 20-inch wheels are included, along with the 16-speaker sound system and ventilated seats. However, the range-topping Advance trim adds all of the features as standard. On top of that, this model adds a new head-up display, heated steering wheel, and some additional premium equipment.

Safety Features

Thanks to the AcuraWatch safety suite, this crossover comes with a great safety rating. Interestingly, even the base trim level comes with numerous standard features. That includes traction control, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. On top of that, you’ll get electronic stability control and ABS brake assist system. Adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking and blind spot monitoring are optional on the base model.

Efficient Hybrid System

Acura is working on hybrid technology for some time now. The 2020 Acura RDX Hybrid will arrive in the coming months. The compact crossover will get both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. Of course, traditional 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is available as standard. This engine is producing 272 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. However, this engine will be mated to a pair of electric motors. RDX Hybrid will offer slightly more power, around 300 horses.

A 10-speed automatic transmission is available. On top of that, the front-wheel-drive system comes as standard. Optional all-wheel-drive setup is available too. A hybrid variant will improve already good mileage figures. While the regular RDX model provides 24 mpg combined, the hybrid version will offer around 33 mpg.

2020 Acura RDX Hybrid Release Date and Price

The all-new 2020 Acura RDX Hybrid will hit the dealerships in the third quarter of 2019 as the 2020 model. This crossover will arrive in four trim levels. The price of the new RDX model starts at $39,000. There will be plenty of optional equipment. However, RDX Hybrid will start at around $44,000. This model will look to rival Lincoln MKC and Infiniti QX50.
