The carmaker has announced a redesign of its full-size SUV which will appear on a market as the 2020 Dodge Durango. The new Dodge should be redesigned and most of the changes will be visible in the exterior styling.
Engines and performances of the 2020 Dodge Durango
Under the hood of the 2020 Dodge Durango will be found three types of engines depending on a trim level. So, the one will be a 3.6-liter V-6 engine which will be able to make 293 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque. There will be a choice between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems. The RWD model gets 19/26 mpg while the AWD model is rated at 18/25 mpg in the city/highway.
The next option is a 5.7-liter V-8 engine which is able to produce 360 horses and 390 pound-feet of torque. As for the fuel economy, this unit is estimated to be 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
Finally, the SRT model is equipped with a 6.4-liter V-8 powertrain which has the output of 475 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes with all-wheel drive layout as standard. It gets 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. All the engines are linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The platform, exterior, and interior design
According to the latest news, the upcoming 2020 Dodge Durango is expected to be based on the new platform which won’t change its dimensions. However, the new Dodge will arrive with a reduced weight which will improve handling and fuel efficiency.
Speaking of the exterior design, the 2020 Dodge Durango will keep its muscular and aggressive styling, but this time we can expect some changes in design. Although it is not yet precise which adjustments the new Dodge will feature, we assume that it might get some changes on the grille, headlamps, and bumper. The rear fascia could also feature new taillights and bumper.
The interior of the 2020 Dodge Durango will remain with standard two-row seating configuration while the third row will be optional. Most of the models will be available with a choice between a bench and captain’s chairs. The first and the second row of seats are comfortable while the third row is a bit tight for longer rides. The third row can be folded down which offers the cargo room of 85 cubic feet.
As for the equipment, all the models come standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system, several USB ports, three-zone climate control, keyless ignition, 18-inch alloy wheels, and manually adjusted front seats. The GT trim will add leather and synthetic suede upholstery, special steering tuning, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a firmer suspension. The R/T model will come with upgraded leather upholstery, cooled front seats, and a Beats audio system.
Furthermore, the Citadel will add Alpine audio with 9 speakers, more chrome accents, a softer suspension, and so on. The SRT will include upgraded brakes, track-oriented suspension, and its unique styling. As well, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity will be optional.
Release date and price
We cannot say for sure when we can expect the newest 2020 Dodge Durango. However, it might be sometime during next year. The price is not yet revealed but it could be slightly higher than the current model which starts at around $32,000.
