The Kia’s popular mid-size crossover SUV, the well-known Sorento now comes standard with three rows of seats and seats seven making it more appealing to large families. The current version has also gotten revised exterior styling, the new 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the 2.0-liter turbo engine is no longer available. So, the new 2020 Kia Sorento will probably be a carryover and won’t get some significant changes this time.
Engine and performances of the 2020 Kia Sorento
The current model year has dropped a 2.0-liter turbo from the lineup. So it now comes with two types of engines under its hood. And we believe that the 2020 Kia Sorento will feature the same engines as the current model. So, the base is a 2.4-liter inline-4 which is able to make 185 horses and the torque of 178 lb-ft. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The FWD model gets 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Connected to all-wheel drive system, it is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
The next is a 3.3-liter V-6 engine. This one can deliver 290 horses and 252 pound-feet of torque. It works with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. As for the fuel economy, the front-wheel drive version is estimated to be 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive model gets 19/24 mpg. Its towing capacity is between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds.
2020 Kia Sorento design of exterior and interior
As for the exterior design, the current, 2019 model year has gotten a lightly revised body featuring refreshed front and rear fascias. And it really looks handsome and attractive. The new Kia, especially the higher trim levels look very good with dark metallic grille, stainless steel bumper, and chrome roof rails. Depending on a trim level, the Sorento will be available with wheels in size from 17 to 19 inches.
Inside, all the 2020 Kia Sorentos will come with standard three-row seating configuration. So, it will be able to accommodate up to seven passengers which will make it a good choice for families. The base model will come with the cloth while the higher trims will be available with leather upholstery. The first and the second rows are very comfortable while the third row is better for smaller occupants and kids.
As for the equipment, the base model will come with a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a rearview camera, keyless entry, 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, Bluetooth, and so on. The higher trim levels will add satellite radio, leather, USB ports, heated front seats, a power tailgate, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, an 8.0-inch infotainment display, and many other more.
Release date and price of the 2020 Kia Sorento
The all-new 2020 Kia Sorento might appear on the market during next year, perhaps in the second half of 2019. The pricing should be similar to the current model which begins at around $27,000.
