2020 Toyota Land Cruiser: Redesign, Changes, Arrival

The all-new 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser has already been announced to hit the market sometime by early 2021. The next generation Land Cruiser should get some changes in almost every segment. So, it should come with a new chassis, some new engine options including V-6 and hybrid units which will be more fuel efficient compared to the current V-8 engine. As well, we also anticipate some small upgrades in the styling and inside the cabin.

Engines and performances of the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser

Beneath the hood of the current Land Cruiser, there is one single option and it is a 5.7-liter V-8 engine. This unit is able to generate 381 horses and the torque of 401 pound-feet. It works with an 8-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with all-wheel drive system. As for the fuel economy, this unit gets 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.

However, according to some rumors, it is very likely that the upcoming 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser will be available no more with a V-8 unit. But instead, it will get a new 3.5-liter V-6 petrol engine which is also used in the Lexus LS model. This unit has the output of 416 horses and is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.  Of course, this is not official and we will have to wait for the manufacturer’s official announcement. Furthermore, some claim that the Land Cruiser will also get a hybrid variant which will combine a V-6 petrol engine with an electric motor and will be more fuel economical compared to the other units offered.

Design of exterior and interior

The all-new 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser will still be a full-size crossover SUV as before but it is very likely to get a new ladder-frame chassis. As for the exterior design, the new Toyota should get the same long hood, nice chrome accents, and prominent front fascia with a wide grille and prominent LED headlamps. On the rear end, there will be the same dynamic taillights and emphasized bumper alongside the nicely designed 18-inch wheels.

2020 Toyota Land Cruiser side

As before, the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser has three rows of seats and ability to welcome up to eight passengers. The first row is highly comfortable even at long rides and has a heating and cooling function. The second row is also pretty good while the third row is perhaps the best for smaller adults or kids. The Land Cruiser offers the cargo room of 16.1 cubic feet and with the third row folded down, it expands to 43 cubes. However, the maximum cargo room (with the second row folded down as well) is 82 cubic feet.

The standard equipment of the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser is pretty good. It includes heated and cooled front seats, a power moonroof, four-zone climate control,  JBL audio system, an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, a heated steering wheels, navigation, and so on.
