The compact crossover SUV segment is heating up. One of the most anticipated models is surely the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. It comes with great mileage, modern interior, and attractive exterior design. Resale value is incredible and this is an affordable model. For such an affordable price, Toyota offers a surprisingly long list of standard features.

Also, Toyota’s Safety Sense-P suite is in the offer. RAV4 Hybrid model comes with a five-star safety rating. It will be available in numerous trim levels as well. Toyota RAV4 TRD model will be in the offer. However, this version won’t feature a hybrid drivetrain.

Exterior Facelift

For the start, this compact SUV looks very sharp and attractive. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid won’t get such a significant visual upgrade. However, the new model will look slightly more aggressive and sporty. Additional chrome trims are visible and 18-inch wheels will remain standard.

That means the 19-inch wheels will be optional once again. Two-tone exterior paint is optional. LED headlights and taillights are in the offer and the front fascia features more black details. Also, the rear-mounted tire is gone.

Interior and Safety Rating

The interior will feature more soft-touch surfaces this time. Even the plastic materials are more upscale. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will offer a comfortable interior that is very inviting. The base model is surprisingly modern. It holds a carbon-fiber cladding on the doorsills and gearshift leveler. Leather upholstery is optional on the base model and standard on the upper trim levels.

Seats are very supportive, especially the front ones. Heating and cooling options aren’t standard and you’ll have to pay additionally for them. Also, Toyota’s Safety Sense P suit is optional. Thanks to it, RAV4 Hybrid comes with a five-star safety rating. That includes pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation braking systems.

Engine Specs, Mileage

New RAV4 SUV comes with a single engine choice. It is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. This unit is producing 175 horses and 170 lb-ft of torque. Now, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will deploy the same four-cylinder unit. Toyota will pair it with two smaller electric motors and a battery pack.  Thanks to this combination, this model will generate almost 200 horsepower and over 200 lb-ft of torque.

The all-wheel-drive configuration is optional and the Hybrid model will use a 6.-speed automatic transmission. A CVT gearbox will be optional. Just to compare, the base RAV4 model is rated at 25 mpg combined. On the other hand, RAV4 Hybrid will deliver 32 mpg combined.

Toyota RAV4 TRD Pro

After Tacoma and Sequoia models, RAV4 SUV will also get a famous TRD Pro badge.  Base RAV4 model isn’t off-road capable at all. However, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD Pro will deliver amazing off-road ability. This model will look even sportier than the regular one. It comes with new skid plates, higher ground clearance, and new 18-inch alloy wheels.

The interior will be similar, but it will look sportier and it will add more red accents. Under the hood, the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is delivering 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. TRD variant comes with 8-speed automatic transmission. Also, it can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Some rumors are saying that this off-road version could get a hybrid drivetrain as well.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Price and Release Date

The upcoming 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will cost slightly over $30,000. The base model with a regular gasoline engine starts at $25,000.

Range-topping Platinum model is priced at over $40,000. RAV4 will look to rival models such as Ford Escape and Honda CR-V. The compact SUV will hit the dealerships in the last quarter of 2019.
