New 2021 Buick Encore is the brand’s most affordable SUV. The subcompact crossover is based on the Chevy Trax, but it looks more premium. Moreover, it delivers a better ride quality, but the price still starts below $30k. Encore is an upscale crossover, and it is a popular choice among younger buyers.
The GX variant is available too, but the GX model isn’t related to regular Encore. It is a model that could steal the spotlight of the regular Encore, but Buick will provide more than enough refreshments to keep its crossover competitive. The sales will start this fall.
2021 Encore Gets Minor Facelift and New Colors
As for the design, the new 2021 Buick Encore will host a couple of changes. This subcompact crossover looks very upscale and modern. It is a small vehicle that is 168 inches long. That is smaller than some hatchbacks. Encore is a model that is very easy to maneuver and park in tight spaces. If you want to buy a model for your son or daughter who are inexperienced drivers, Encore is the answer.
Most of the vehicle is very modern, and some parts are unique. That includes a vertical grille and a beautiful floating Buick logo. The 2021 Encore comes with larger headlamps and taillights. On top of that, Buick will deliver more chrome accents and redesigned bumpers. New exterior colors are a possibility, but we are still waiting for the official announcement.
The forthcoming 2021 Buick Encore is available in only two trim levels. However, Buick offers plenty of standard and optional equipment. The cabin looks upscale for such a reasonable price. Indeed, some parts are wearing cheap plastics, but most of the cabin is looking great. Buick offers a combination of cloth and leatherette upholstery, and the comfort is excellent.
Encore crossover is tech-rich, even in its base trim level. The manufacturer will offer a standard eight-inch touchscreen, and the interior room is generous for the subcompact crossover segment. There are 18.9 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold the rear seats, and Encore will provide up to 48.4 cubic feet of cargo room. You can also fold the front seats in order to accommodate longer items.
The subcompact crossover rides on the same 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine can produce 138 horsepower and up to 150 lb-ft of torque. Buick provides a six-speed automatic gearbox that provides smooth shifting. Front-wheel-drive remains standard, but you can get an optional AWD system.
While it isn’t the most powerful crossover, Encore delivers 30 mpg on the highway. Moreover, Buick will look to improve fuel efficiency by a small margin. Some reports are suggesting a hybrid version for 2021, but that won’t happen in the near future.
