2021 Ford Edge: Redesign, Edge ST, Hybrid

The all-new 2021 Ford Edge will get a redesign. This SUV will introduce numerous exterior and interior upgrades. Whatsoever, Edge Hybrid and Edge ST will become available before the end of 2020. As for the Edge ST model, it will be the fastest SUV in the non-premium segment.

For that reason, Blue Oval keeps the prices affordable. On the other hand, while not-premium model, Edge offers great comfort and quiet ride. Safety will be significantly improved and we can expect more standard features.

2021 Edge Exterior Redesign

At first glance, 2021 Ford Edge will look almost the same as its predecessor. However, features are all-new or significantly changed. For the start, the grille is totally revised. Headlights are all-new and the hood will gain more muscles.

Stylish taillights will also get further polishing and the rear bumper will be more aggressive. The styling looks modern as before and we can expect additional changes in terms of design. However, closer details won’t become available this year.

Interior Changes

From the inside, the upcoming 2021 Ford Edge will also get a vast of refreshments. Blue Oval automaker will look to deliver better comfort this time. That includes more upscale materials, which means new upholstery and more soft-touch materials. Also, thanks to more sound insulating materials, the cabin will be quieter.

Thanks to that, Edge will be a perfect model for a comfortable ride and longer trips. Dimensionally, Edge will keep its current size. Interior layout will suffer zero changes. The same seating layout is present once again. When it comes to interior features, Ford will deliver more standard equipment. On top of that, an updated infotainment system and updates on the displays and other features will happen.

Same Four-Cylinder Engine and Possible Hybrid Drivetrain

There won’t be any types of change under the hood. The all-new 2021 Ford Edge will continue to ride on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. This unit recently replaced the 3.5-liter V6. The relatively fresh engine will remain the only drivetrain choice. On top of that, Ford is offering a high-performance Edge ST variant. Current 2.0-liter will produce up to 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.

The 8-speed automatic transmission is also recently added and it is the only gearbox choice. Before 2021, Ford will introduce the 2021 Edge Hybrid model. This model will get a battery pack and a pair of electric motors. This output will generate almost the same amount of power as the base model. Edge will get a significant boost in fuel economy and it will offer an all-wheel-drive setup as standard.

As you probably now, Sport trim is no longer available. As a replacement, Ford introduced the famous ST variant. The 2021 Ford Edge ST will look extremely sporty, especially from the outside. This model will get better aerodynamics and new features. That includes larger wheels and wider dimensions. On top of that, thanks to the retuned suspension, this model will deliver even better performance.

As for the exterior, Edge ST will deliver gloss black grille that looks astonishing. Unlike the base model, Edge ST will ride on a 2.7-liter V6 unit. This turbocharged EcoBoost engine will produce 335 horses and 380 lb-ft of torque. This output will make Ford Edge ST the fastest non-premium SUV on the market.

2021 Ford Edge Price and Release Date

The forthcoming 2021 Ford Edge will cost slightly higher than its predecessor. The main reason is, of course, a redesign. The base model will start at $32,000.

On the other hand, Edge ST will keep its current price of $42,500. The hybrid model will be priced at around $38,000 once it arrives. Blue Oval will introduce its new SUV in the second half of 2020.
