The all-new 2021 Honda CR-V will arrive with a redesign. That means the customers should expect a lot of exterior refinements and interior updates. Changes under to hood are very likely as well. Honda will offer a couple of engine options and even a hybrid powertrain will be in the offer. The same hybrid setup powers Honda Accord sedan.
The CR-V crossover will remain a compact model that looks stylish and handsome. However, a new look is on the cards and expect a lot of interesting styling cues. The interior will remain as spacious as before but it will wear more high-quality materials than before. The sales will start in the coming months.
2021 CR-V Redesign
The forthcoming 2021 Honda CR-V will be redesigned. The latest spy photos are the proof we needed. Thanks to the small amount of camouflage, all of the exterior updates are visible. The prototype was wearing almost the same body lines as before. However, the front fascia is new. Honda will deliver brand-new grille and LED headlamps. Moreover, both front and rear bumpers are heavily refreshed.
The rear part will host modified taillights and the rear bumper is larger than before. In order to accommodate hybrid powertrain, CR-V will ride on the same but modified architecture. The platform is extended so new CR-V will be slightly longer than before. However, this crossover will remain compact in terms of size.
Interior Gets More Tech
The interior will introduce even more upgrades than the exterior. New 2021 Honda CR-V will provide more interior room than ever before. Thanks to that, third-row will be available for the first time and it will be optional. This is not official but reliable reports are strongly suggesting new seating capacity for this small crossover. CR-V will remain a family crossover-SUV but it will introduce a lot of updates. For a start, the Japanese manufacturer will deliver more quality materials and more tech goodies.
A 5-inch infotainment display is gone and a 7-inch touchscreen is now here. More standard equipment will slightly raise the price but this is good news. The new infotainment system is in the offer along with the rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, and upgraded audio system. Honda will offer more driver-assistance aids that should be optional on the base trim level. Optionally, you can get a moonroof, push-button start, heated front seats, and much more.
Engine Specs, Hybrid, MPG
The approaching 2021 Honda CR-V will introduce the latest performance upgrades. Three engine options are available for the first time. However, a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine will remain. This engine is capable of producing 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Optional 1.5-liter comes with a turbocharger and it delivers 190 hp and 180 lb-ft of twisting power. Lastly, CR-V will introduce a hybrid version.
This crossover will borrow a hybrid setup from the Accord sedan. It is a 2.0-liter output combined with a dual-motor setup. Together, this variant generates 212 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. As for the fuel economy, CR-V Hybrid will deliver almost 40 mpg combined. Rumors about possible diesel engine are false and this will not happen in the next year or two.
2021 Honda CR-V Release Date, Competition, Price
As for the price, the base trim level will start at $26,500. On the other hand, the 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid will cost slightly above $30,000. The release date is not available yet but CR-V should go on sale later this year. The biggest competitors are Nissan X-Trail, Ford Escape, and Toyota RAV4.
