The forthcoming 2021 Jeep Wrangler is getting further refreshments. A couple of days ago, Jeep revealed its release date, and this SUV will arrive this summer. While its engine lineup remains, Wrangler will offer the PHEV version for improved fuel efficiency. Changes are far from significant, but some of them are looking exciting.
It is a must for Jeep as Ford is releasing its Bronco SUV this year. Bronco will directly rival the Wrangler model, and it will be interesting to see this battle. Small interior updates will happen as well. As for the price, the new model will cost slightly more than the outgoing model.
The current generation is available for two years now. For that reason, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler won’t introduce changes under the hood. Wrangler will once again deploy a well-known 3.6-liter V6. This engine can produce 285 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
You can have this gasoline engine with either manual or automatic transmission. Moreover, Jeep said that Wrangler won’t introduce any type of performance upgrades, so everything remains intact in terms of the gasoline powertrain option.
2021 Wrangler Diesel
As for the diesel powertrain, the new 2021 Jeep Wrangler will offer one. This is a must as Ford Bronco is coming to the markets, most likely with a diesel powertrain as well. As for the Wrangler, a 3.0-liter V6 with 265 horses is available. On top of that, the turbodiesel variant generates up to 445 lb-ft of torque.
If you are a fan of off-roading, then the diesel engine is the right choice. Small engine tweaks are a possibility, so we are still waiting for Jeep to announce engine specs. That includes its towing capacity and the fuel efficiency figures.
The upcoming 2021 Jeep Wrangler PHEV is also available. It is a model that most of the fans waited for. The hybrid variant comes with small visual modifications over the regular gasoline-powered Wrangler. For a start, Wrangler PHEV comes with a clearer section between the taillights. On the other hand, the front fascia looks the same. That includes a recognizable seven-slot grille and angular headlamps.
The exterior is very practical, with removable windshield and doors. The hybrid system sits between the driveshaft space and the exhaust. However, Jeep is yet to announce hybrid specs. From what we know, the PHEV version will provide slightly more power than the gasoline engine, and it will offer an astonishing fuel economy.
2021 Jeep Wrangler Price and Release Date
The price of the new 2021 Jeep Wrangler will slightly increase. However, numerous experts are suggesting a small jump in price. Thanks to that, the new model will start at around $31,000. On the other hand, Wrangler PHEV will surely cost closer to $40,000. A couple of days ago, Jeep confirmed Wrangler’s arrival this summer.
Whatsoever, the order books will be open on July 8. Lastly, it seems that the Coronavirus outbreak won’t force Jeep to reschedule its plans and launch dates. Wrangler will directly rival brand-new Ford Bronco SUV that will also arrive before the end of 2020.
